A discussion of how the goals of the NSA/DHS Center of Academic Excellence Cyber Defense (CAE-CD) program have changed to reflect a focus from academic/curricular interest to that of workforce development, with the end goal being an increase in the number of schools in the program and number of qualified graduates from those schools.  With this focus, there are also challenges that must be addressed, such as educator shortage, competency measurement, K-12 pipeline, and articulation.  Requirements and resources in support of having a program designated as a CAE-CD will be provided.

This workshop is intended for institutions interested in designating, or re-designating, as a CAE. Presenters from the NSA's National and Regional Resource Centers will present recent changes to knowledge units and program criteria to NSA's CAE-CDE and CAE2Y program. A discussion of NSA's Mentoring and Peer Review process, as well as resources available to schools developing or expanding cybersecurity programs will be provided. Attendees will leave with a clear pathway for applying for designation and becoming a part of the CAE Community.
